There are big, transformative changes afoot in Vancouver's oldest neighbourhood, the Downtown Eastside, and especially in the Chinatown and Gastown areas.
Both areas are home to several new condo and rental projects, with more in the pipeline. Buildings completing soon include Framework by Porte, 188 Keefer by Westbank, InGastown by PortLiving and Sequel 138.
There are also several rental projects including Bluesky Chinatown and an upcoming rental building by Wall Financial at the corner of East Hastings Street and Gore Avenue.
The Telus Garden office building has been complete and open since September, but the condo tower is still under construction. But it's edging ever closer to completion, with some of the finishing touches now being applied to the exterior.
When complete, the building will have 53 storeys and 428 units. The developer is Westbank and the architect is Henriquez Partners, who recently moved their office into the office building of Telus Garden.
The Arc Vancouver is the latest project by Concord Pacific in Yaletown. Situated next to the Cambie Bridge, presales for this upcoming 29 storey tower start this month. Amenities promised by the developer include a grand lounge with catering kitchen, outdoor patio deck with beautiful views of False Creek, state-of-the-art gym, cappuccino lounge and garden and something the developer calls a "tepidarium" -- which is essentially a lounge with heated chairs.
Boutique developer Boffo Developments Ltd. is preparing the launch of sales for their first ever downtown condo tower, called The Smithe. The 26-storey, mixed use condo tower will be located at 225 Smithe Street, at the corner of Smithe and Cambie Street in Yaletown.
