Two options presented for redevelopment of Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands

A rezoning application has been filed with the City of North Vancouver for the Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands at Lonsdale and 23rd.

Darwin Properties is proposing two towers and four mid-rise apartment buildings (between five and six storeys) for a total of six buildings, as well as a new park oriented north-south along Lonsdale Avenue.

There are two options being considered, one with two 26-storey towers, and a second option with two towers of 32 and 26 storeys.

The second option would include 51,620 square feet of additional density, and allow for the provision of additional on-site amenities, which could include non-profit housing and/or on-site childcare.

The two proposals are identical apart from an additional six storeys in the northernmost tower to accommodate the additional floor area.

Residential units will vary in size (studio to three-bedroom), type (townhome, live-work, apartment), and tenure (both rental and strata units are proposed).

21,400 square feet of retail is also proposed as part of the development.

Parking will be provided via two levels of underground parking.

Programming for the new park space is expected to include: a public plaza, children’s play structures and spray/water area, a public washroom, a parkour area, outdoor table-tennis/foosball, as well as significant vegetated area.

The proposal will go to public hearing in June of 2018.

New Harry Jerome rec centre

The redevelopment of the Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands will help pay for a new Harry Jerome recreation centre on the north side of 23rd Street, with a 50-metre pool, six sheets of curling ice, skate park, fitness centre, seniors’ activity centre and rooftop tennis courts.
