Monad rental apartments in “PassivHaus” building proposed for Rupert St. site in East Van

A stylish, secured rental apartment building over ground floor retail space is proposed for 4459 Rupert Street in east Vancouver.

The project is modelled after the original “Monad on West 4th” building that won two inaugural City of Vancouver design awards in 2014.

The architect says all homes will have two-sided access to daylight, offering cross-ventilation and a variety of layout options.  There will be a total of 14 suites and nine parking spaces.

Spaces will be compact, with studios measuring between 320 sq ft. and 356 sq ft.; one bedrooms from 390 sq ft. to 440 sq ft.; and two bedrooms from 602 sq ft. to 775 sq ft.

The project is proposed to meet Passive House Certification, or PassivHaus, a rigorous standard that calls for ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

The architect is LWPAC Lang Wilson Practice in Architecture Culture and the client is Rejoyce Investment Corp.
