$1,450 for 200 square feet apartment in Gastown

A 200 sq ft. furnished micro apartment above the Metropole Pub in Gastown is listed for rent on Craigslist for an astonishing $1,450 per month.

The tiny apartment has been listed for nearly a month on the site, and is one of several “furnished, renovated, micro-studio apartments on the top floor at the historic Metropole Building.”

The self-contained suite — which is the same size as a one-car garage — has a small bar fridge and hot plate, as well as a private bathroom with 3/4 tub and shower.

In the basement’s communal laundry room, you’ll find new washers and dryers and 42″ TV and foosball table to keep entertained while you keep an eye on your laundry.

All applicants for this apartment must prove income, provide past landlord and personal references, and pay their monthly rent by electronic fund transfer. Six to 12 month leases will be considered.

The building on Abbott Street, across from the Woodward’s Development, was recently renovated and its brick façade restored. It was formerly an SRO and is home to the Metropole Pub.

Rental apartment prices in Metro Vancouver recently hit an all-time high, with rent for the average one-bedroom apartment reaching $2,090 a month, according to Padmapper.
