Slender building slated for unique Mount Pleasant site

Rendition Developments is planning a five-storey light industrial building on a small lot in Mount Pleasant.

The lot, at 2045 Columbia Street, measures 30.5′ by 110.6′ and is adjacent to an appliance store on the corner of West 4th and Columbia.

The new building will have manufacturing uses on the second, third and fourth floors, and office on the fifth floor. Parking and loading will be at grade due to the small site.

The architects, Mallen Gowing Berzins Architecture Inc. (MGBA), say the building’s design responds to the “challengingly small parcel” with expansive use of glass and shading screens on the exterior. The building will also work with an existing tree on the site.

The site is just around the corner from another upcoming light industrial project at West 4th and Columbia, designed by Taylor Kurtz Architecture & Design of Vancouver.
