The redevelopment of a former Hyundai dealership on Kingsway in Mount Pleasant will add 215 secured rental homes, including 44 which will be affordable for people making between $30,000 – $80,000 per year.
The project was approved Tuesday evening.

The design, by Acton Ostry Architects, includes two 14-storey towers with commercial use at grade. Underground will be 224 parking stalls and 443 bicycle parking stalls.
Unit mix
- 54 studios
- 86 one-bedrooms
- 54 two-bedrooms
- 21 three-bedrooms
The development also includes an underground commercial carwash and vehicle storage facility to serve the nearby Kingsway Honda automobile dealership at Kingsway and East 12th Avenue. The carwash will use rainwater captured on site.
If a proposal for this site sounds familiar, a smaller proposal for a six-storey building with a car dealership on the ground floor was approved in 2016, but never proceeded.
