Fire-damaged East Broadway building gets new lease on life

A fire-damaged building on East Broadway near Fraser is about to get a new lease on life.

Stuart Howard Architects has applied on behalf of a numbered company to redevelop the site, preserving the “Class C” heritage listed façade, while constructing 18 new rental units on three floors over ground floor retail space.

There will be a courtyard in the middle of the building, with a central stairwell and elevator tower.

Dozens of residents lost their homes when the building, known as the Stinson Block, caught fire in June 2014
