GBL Architects says its design for 8655 Granville Street has received unanimous approval at Vancouver’s Urban Design Panel.
The former gas station site on Granville Street near West 70th will be redeveloped into a 11-storey, mixed use building including 55 condominiums, retail space at grade, and office space on the second floor. The developer is Buffalo Investment.
There will be 73 underground parking spaces and 110 bicycle spaces.
GBL states “the development with its future commercial, office space and housing will become part of the neighbourhood centre, and help strengthen the character of Granville as the ‘high street’ for the Marpole area in Vancouver.”

The façade design of horizontal bands is inspired by Vancouver’s coastline of layered rocks, carved and etched by ocean waves, according to the architects.
The building’s amenity space is located on the third floor, with a south facing outdoor patio of over 1,000 sq ft.
