Best downtown Vancouver one bedroom condos under $500,000

It’s no secret Vancouver’s housing prices are on a tear this year, with resale condo prices up 20 per cent year over year.

Most strata condos downtown are going for $1,000/sq. ft., and units in new developments are selling for even more as presales.

Today we are taking a look at one bedroom condos for sale in downtown Vancouver, with the goal of finding a decent one bedroom condo for under $500,000.

We will focus on five downtown Vancouver neighbourhoods: Gastown, Yaletown, Coal Harbour, the West End and the Central Business District.

Gastown condo – Alexander Street

Price: $429,000

↑ This charming one bedroom on a great street in Gastown less than a block from the Chill Winston patio is priced to sell at $429,900. The unit features a gas fireplace, open kitchen with granite countertops, and new paint, lighting and flooring. It’s currently rented for $1,550 per month, so you could keep the tenant or move in yourself. Listing removed.

Yaletown condo – Homer Street

Price: $375,000

↑ We had trouble finding a one bedroom condo listed at under $500,000 in Yaletown, so this studio will have to do. It’s cozy at only 440 square feet, but it has parking, storage and a view. It’s on the 20th floor of the Pinnacle building on Homer Street, which has great amenities including a pool, sauna, hot tub and gym. It’s only $375,000, so you could afford to update the kitchen and bathroom. Listing removed.

Coal Harbour condo – Jervis Street

Price: $398,000

↑ It’s not technically a one bedroom, even though it is being marketed as such. Regardless, this condo is in a great location in Coal Harbour, across from the Coal Harbour Community Centre and the seawall. This unit measures 484 sq. ft. and has a parking spot and bike storage. Listing removed.

West End condo – Harwood Street

Price: $499,000

↑ This sub-penthouse one bedroom in a less than two-year-old building squeaks just under our $500k limit at $499,000. There’s a lot to like about this unit, including a small water view and the peace of mind of a new building with air conditioning and high-end appliances. The building also features a gym and concierge and is located at Burrard and Burnaby. Listing here.

Downtown Vancouver core condo

Price: $499,000

↑ Who says you can’t get a great view downtown for under $500k? This renovated, one bedroom unit at Conference Plaza on Seymour Street is certainly impressive for the price. It has parking, storage, and the price includes the furniture. According to the listing, it rents as a furnished rental for around $2,500 a month. Listing removed.
