The provincial government is once again shopping around naming rights for BC Place stadium.
In 2012, the BC Liberal provincial government scrapped a $35 million deal with Telus to rename the stadium to Telus Park because of the public’s “strong attachment” to the BC Place name.
With a new NDP government in Victoria, there’s been a change of heart. The crown corporation that operates the stadium — PavCo — says it’s seeking a private partner to help offset operating costs.
“This naming rights sponsorship opportunity will make more funds available for government to improve the services that British Columbians count on,” said Lisa Beare, minister of tourism, arts and culture.
Proposals are due by February 21, 2019.
