Six residential towers to replace Burquitlam Plaza

Burquitlam Plaza, on the boundary of Burnaby and Coquitlam, sits on Clarke Road amidst a sea of redevelopment, sparked by the opening of the Evergreen Line SkyTrain extension in 2016.

It’s surrounded by new condominium towers from developers like BlueSky, Bosa, Marcon and others. The strip mall opened in 1960, and is currently managed by Morguard Investments.

It’s anchored by Value Village, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Dollarama, but with large surface parking lots next to SkyTrain — it’s not long for this world.

An early development application to the City of Coquitlam has been filed to redevelop the site into a mixed-use project with six residential towers and a commercial podium.

The application is by B&A Planning Group of Calgary. No further details are available at this time, but we should learn more soon.
