A new college and office building is proposed for the Broadway Tech Park, next to the Renfrew SkyTrain station in East Vancouver.
The Molnar Group has applied to the city to develop a seven-storey office building and a six-storey college building, connected by a two-storey podium.
The site, at 2710 Kaslo Street, is bound by East 12th (Grandview Hwy.) to south, East 10th to north, and Renfrew to the east. The development is directly to the east of the former Rona big box store on Kaslo Street.
Building model: New addition to Broadway Tech Park
The new development will include college functions and a retail store at grade, as well as the office lobby. The architecture, by IBI Group, includes a façade of energy-efficient curtainwall glazing, with vertical glazing fins of laminated glass. The rear of the development is much more subtle, to reduce the impact of the buildings on a row of single family homes to the north.
The six-storey college building includes a rooftop terrace, with landscaping and seating areas.
There will be two levels of underground parking with approximately 282 parking spaces, accessed off Kaslo Street. The total floor area of the office and college components is 212,770 sq ft.
