Holborn has applied for a development permit for a six-storey social housing building on its Little Mountain site.
The building, at 4902 James Street, will contain 70 social housing units. James Street will be the primary north-south route through the site, but will be traffic-calmed and pedestrian friendly.
The façade will be comprised of cementitious panels, glass windows and brick – “where plays with texture and orientation are used to create visual interest,” according to the design rationale.
The building includes a wide variety of unit sizes – one, two, three, four and even five-bedroom units. The five-bedroom units will be approximately 1,400 square feet.
Holborn appears to be preparing to break ground on the market aspect of the Little Mountain project, after years of the site sitting empty, to much criticism. The developer recently applied to construct a presale presentation centre at Ontario and East 33rd.
The site was formerly home to a large-scale social housing project, that was demolished in 2009.
