“Floating Plates” is Alterativ Design Lab’s concept for a lot at 3656 McKechnie Avenue in West Vancouver.
The 15,392 square foot lot and is currently listed by Eric Christiansen of Angell Hasman & Associates for $2.99 million.
The West Coast modernist design takes a minimalistic approach. The home will be five bedrooms and six bathrooms, with large outdoor spaces designed with entertaining in mind.
The designer says the simplicity of the space is meant to create a calming environment inside, and the full floor-to-ceiling glazing lets the beauty of the natural surroundings take centre stage. The Zen-inspired design aims to balance maximizing quality views while maintaining privacy by creating a suspended wall on the north side, facing neighbours. The wall engulfs a floating entry that includes a waterfall and greenery.
Award-winning chief designer Soudeh Keypour aimed to continue the lineage of “West Coast Modernism” in its most pure form of connectedness to nature.
