Demand for new office space in downtown Vancouver continues to be strong, with one new proposal planned for behind an existing office building.
B + H Architects has designed a new 10-storey, 146,618 sq. ft. “Class A” office building for Oxford Properties, to be built on the plaza behind their existing office tower at 401 West Georgia Street. The new office tower will front onto Dunsmuir Street, next to the Holy Rosary Cathedral.
The tower’s ground floor will feature at-grade bicycle facilities, a lobby designed to encourage public gathering, and retail suited for a food & beverage tenant. There will also be a fitness centre and conference facilities on site.
Spaces will be targeted to the tech sector, and will feature modern treatments including polished concrete floors, open-ceilings with custom HVAC, and hanging linear LED fixtures.
The immediate area is slated to undergo a major transformation in the near future, with a major redevelopment of the former Canada Post building into mixed-use development with rental apartments, condominiums, big box retail and office space.
