28-storey River District tower moves to development application

Wesgroup Properties is proceeding with a development application for a 28-storey tower in the River District, at 3480 E Kent Ave S, south of their recent Avalon project.

The design, by Boniface Oleksiuk Politano Architects, calls for a 300 ft. tower with 314 units, and retail on the ground floor. There will be five levels of underground parking with 468 stalls.

The architect says the curved balcony design is inspired by the fluid and powerful motions of the nearby Fraser River.

The development application follows Wesgroup’s rezoning of the site. There will be two phases to the development, a future residential tower (Phase 2) and a rental building.
