Public art adds splash of colour to Vancouver skyline

A massive new piece of public art on the side of a new Yaletown condominium tower is making a big impact on the skyline.

The bold public artwork is entitled “Finger Paint” by Canadian artist Elizabeth McIntosh, and was revealed on the side of The Charleson by Onni Group, a 43-storey building at Richards and Pacific.

The art measures 30 feet wide and 416 feet high, and is a striking contrast to the grey tones and glass of the neighbourhood.

The forms on the art were made by a finger on a touchpad, and are made up of marks, gestures and solid shapes.

“It is great seeing Elizabeth McIntosh’s public art piece “Finger Paint” come to life downtown, adding a wonderful splash of colour to Yaletown. It’s great to see a local artist add so significantly to our skyline,” said Acting Mayor and Vancouver City Councillor Raymond Louie.

“Finger Paint” was selected as Onni’s public art component at The Charleson.
