Three floors of office space will soon be added to a two-storey heritage building at the corner of Homer and Drake in Yaletown.
Acton Ostry Architects Inc. designed the addition for the building at 1290 Homer Street, originally known as the MacPherson & Teetzel Company Building, built in 1910.
The building’s structure will be upgraded as part of the addition, and heritage elements will be either restored or reinstated if they are missing.
The architecture of the addition is meant to complement the heritage structure, rather than compete with it. Each new floor will measure approximately 5,700 sq ft., for a total of just over 17,100 sq. ft of new office space.
A restaurant is proposed for the Hamilton Street laneway. The new addition will have a green roof, which will improve views from the adjacent residential towers.
