Amazing Brentwood and City of Lougheed: transforming Burnaby

SHAPE Properties is sharing new details on future plans for ‘The Amazing Brentwood’ and ‘The City of Lougheed’ master-planned developments.

The developer will update Burnaby’s Planning and Development Committee Tuesday afternoon on the progress of the two mega-projects that have transformed North Burnaby’s major town centres.

To date, 3,219 homes have been completed, consisting of 799 rental homes and 2,420 strata condominiums. 

Once both communities are complete, there will be a total of 17,000 homes, consisting of:

  • 11,000 market condominiums
  • 4,200 rental units
  • 1,800 affordable rental homes

Over 720,000 square feet of new retail and commercial space has already been completed (primarily at The Amazing Brentwood, also known as Brentwood Town Centre). The total for both projects once complete is three million square feet of new retail and commercial space.

New retail at Amazing Brentwood 90% leased

SHAPE Properties says 95 per cent of their rental homes at The Amazing Brentwood are already leased. The new retail space is also 90 per cent leased, with the mall preparing to welcome new retailers like H&M and H&M Home, L.L.Bean, Louis Castelle, Suit Supply, Sephora and others.

Food courts at both shopping centres have also been revamped.

Phase two of Amazing Brentwood includes terraced tower design

SHAPE Properties also unveiled plans for phase two at The Amazing Brentwood. Tower 5 will consist of 506 homes, and Tower 6 will include 369 market condominiums, 53 affordable housing units and 21 market rentals, as well as 8,800 square feet of commercial space.

Construction at The City of Lougheed is also well underway, with a total of 1,539 homes under construction, as well as 146,000 square feet of new commercial space.

Phase two of City of Lougheed to add 1,630 homes

The next phase of The City of Lougheed will consist of:

  • 1,150 market units
  • 230 affordable rental units
  • 250 rental units
  • 130,000 square feet of commercial space

Once The City of Lougheed is completely built out, it will consist of 9,900 homes (market, affordable and rental), and 1,550,000 square feet of commercial space.
