Park Board increases safety patrols in Andy Livingstone Park

The Vancouver Park Board will be increasing patrols in Andy Livingstone Park in response to concerns about safety and discarded needles.

The park board says they will be increasing park patrols in Andy Livingstone Park and playground, and will have park operations and specially-trained park rangers on-site daily, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

“We are coordinating with the City of Vancouver – Local Government, Vancouver Police Department,Vancouver Coastal Health, Crosstown Elementary school staff and local agencies to keep the area safe, clean and welcoming for all park and playground users,” according to a statement from the park board issued Tuesday.

A new elementary school — Crosstown Elementary — is adjacent to the park.

The park board advises visitors to report any needles found in the park to the Needle Van Hotline at 604-657-6561 or via email at needlevan@phs.ca
