New Emily Carr campus, Canvas & Block 100 rise in False Creek

Major transformation of False Creek Flats and Olympic Village picks up speed

The area around Vancouver’s former Olympic Village continues its rapid transformation, with new buildings opening up and thousands of residents moving in. There are also other big changes in the works including the relocation of the Emily Carr University of Art + Design to a new building on the False Creek Flats. The new campus will open in 2017 and replace the current campus on Granville Island.

Across the street from the new campus, Onni is putting the finishing touches on their Canvas condo project. The development will have 209 suites, some with rooftop patios and views of downtown. It also looks like a phase two of the development is planned for an empty gravel lot across the street.

West of Main Street on East 1st Avenue and Main Street, Onni is also close to completing another development – Block 100. The two tower development with a six storey podium features 231 suites. The podium features unique red panels on the balconies – although they definitely looked better in the renderings than in person.
