Chard Development is planning a 12-storey office building with ground-floor retail space at the corner of East Broadway and Ontario Street.
The site at 2 East Broadway is currently home to a three-storey, mixed-use building with a bike shop on the corner.
The upcoming building will have 118 underground parking stalls, but also will take advantage of its location along the Ontario Street bike route. End-of-trip facilities and bike parking will be provided on the second floor, accessible from the lane. There will also be a fitness centre on the same floor, and amenity terraces on floors seven, nine and the rooftop.
The proposed building is broken into three volumes to reflect the neighbouring buildings in Mount Pleasant, and will include “buff brick” walls, as well as curtain wall glazing. Architects are MCMP Architects.
