Concord Pacific has released new renderings of their upcoming Concord Metrotown development, which will include B.C.’s tallest tower.
Tower one will measure 723 ft. — taller than the current tallest building in Vancouver and all of B.C. — the Shangri-La residences and hotel, which is 659 ft. Towers two and three at Concord Metrotown will be 530 ft. and 385 ft., respectively.
The project will be on the site of the former Sears department store in Metropolis at Metrotown.
Phase One overview
- three high-rise towers
- approximately 1,400 homes with convertible indoor/outdoor living spaces
- 66,000 square feet Sky Park outdoor amenity
- outdoor pool, barrel saunas, sports court
Phase one of Concord Metrotown will be called Sky Park, and will consist of the 45-storey (530 ft.) tower, designed by IBI Group. It will include 429 units, ranging from one bedrooms, up to three-bedroom and den.
The tower will sit atop a podium with 66,000 square feet of amenities including a 400 metre running loop and 6,000 square feet of indoor amenities.

The Concord Metrotown project and its 1,400 homes in phase one is at the centre of the redevelopment of the Metropolis at Metrotown shopping centre, which will create a true downtown Burnaby.
The City of Burnaby is actively engaged in the reimagining of the shopping centre, with the goal of creating a mixed-use, high-density community that can serve as a rival “downtown core” to downtown Vancouver and what’s happening in Central City in Surrey.
The city adopted the “Metrotown Downtown Plan” in 2017, and in addition to thousands of new homes, hundreds of thousands of square feet of office space and retail, the plan will see the creation of two new acres of green space and three new acres of plazas, including a large plaza across from the Metrotown SkyTrain station.

The overall development of Concord Metrotown will include eight high-rise towers, beginning with phase one, known as Sky Park.
Interestingly, the Concord tower may not be the tallest building in B.C. for long once it completes.
Pinnacle International is pitching an 82-storey tower next to Lougheed Town Centre, but presales have not yet begun, and the proposal is still early in the rezoning process.
The 82-storey tower will be flanked by two additional towers of 67 and 62 storeys.
In addition to the residential component, the development will include approximately 430,000 square feet of retail, hotel and office use.
