Vancouver-based developer Rendition Developments is preparing to launch their latest office building in Mount Pleasant, Fifth + Columbia.
Designed by MGBA (Mallen Gowing Berzins Architecture), the four-storey building will add 25,000 square feet of office space to Mount Pleasant, and offer floor plates of 5,000-6,000 square feet.
The developer is targeting small creative-class tenants, medical services businesses and also medium sized companies who may be interested in leasing the entire building.
Brian Roche, president of Rendition Developments, says the design and size of the building is ideal for post-pandemic world.
“One thing we learned from the pandemic is that people still crave socialization and connection while remaining flexible with their work environment. This type of building provides an escape for companies that are turned off by nondescript, crowded concrete office towers with busy elevators, corridors and shared amenities.”
Roche says the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood is a huge draw for future tenants, with its array of trendy restaurants and breweries, as well as future improvements to rapid transit like the Broadway Subway.
“After spending so much time at home, the park space, craft breweries, murals and coffee shops of Mount Pleasant represent the city’s best place to go to work as society begins to normalize,” he says. “The eventual arrival of the nearby Broadway subway station at Main and Broadway, coupled with growth and development expected along the corridor in line with the new Broadway Plan, will help to accelerate this popular area’s positive evolution.”
Fifth + Columbia is scheduled to be completed by summer 2022.
