An open house was held Wednesday for a new condo development proposal by Grosvenor Pacific at Hornby and Pacific streets, at the site of the former Il Giardino restaurant.
The north side of the building has been modified with a slight angle for light and shadows.
The open house also revealed some new models for the neighbourhood, which is seeing a flurry of development, with Tate on Howe, Burrard Gateway, Vancouver House and a yet unnamed tower by Onni all just blocks away.
The models show these developments in their completed forms, but also a few new towers and buildings, including a possible future tower on the north side of Howe and Pacific, at the current location of the Granville Street bridge loop. The model shows the building situated in between the existing Maddox and and future Vancouver House towers.
The city has been discussing removing the loops of the Granville Street bridge to further develop and connect the Downtown South neighbourhood for a while now. There are also plans for a new aquatic centre at the corner of Pacific and Seymour across from the Mark development to replace the aging facility on Beach Ave.
The proposal will impact views at the recently completed Maddox Tower at Howe and Drake Street, as well as the upcoming Tate on Howe development and Burrard Place.
