A 7/11 at the corner of Kingsway and Joyce in East Vancouver will soon be replaced by a six-storey, mixed-use building with rentals and retail.
Hudson is planning a purpose-built rental development named ‘J@K’ (Joyce at Kingsway) consisting of:
- 79 secured market rentals
- ground floor retail space including a restaurant
- 31 underground parking stalls and 174 bicycle parking spots
The design, by Yamamoto Architecture, features a curved northwest corner and brick cladding, punctuated by balconies with perforated metal fronts.
Residents will have access to several amenities including a fitness studio, lounge, games room and co-working spaces. There will also be two outdoor amenity terraces, on the second floor and on the rooftop.
The building’s architecture is reminiscent of another Yamamoto Architecture project also on Kingsway, in Mount Pleasant.
The firm designed a six-storey market rental building at Kingsway and St. Catherines for Rize Alliance. The project was approved by council on January 19, 2021.
