New office building proposed next to VCC-Clark SkyTrain station

A new office building is proposed for a street in Vancouver you’ve likely never heard of — Keith Drive.

DIALOG has designed the building for a sliver of land between the VCC-Clark SkyTrain station and East 6th Avenue, also known as Great Northern Way. The location, while currently at the end of the Millennium SkyTrain line, will increase in importance when the line is extended westward to Arbutus.

The building will have a total floor area of 124,000 square feet over eight storeys, and include 141 underground parking stalls.

The design uses an innovative perimeter structural system of diagonally-oriented braces, integrated into the architecture of the building.

Tenants will enjoy an open-air roof deck with landscaping, urban agriculture, and views of the North Shore mountains and the downtown Vancouver skyline.

At the eastern edge of the site stands the “Monument for East Vancouver” also known as the East Van Cross, by artist Ken Lum, erected in 2010.

The landscape design at ground level will complement the monument and provide design elements that act as a buffer.
