Nesters Market will be moving into The Independent at Main development at East Broadway and Kingsway once it’s complete later this year.
The 21-storey building is the tallest building in Mount Pleasant, and has 258 residential units. The distinctive tower stands out, with an array of wood panels on its façade and a cluster of trees on the rooftop.
The first floor of the building features eight retail units, one of which is already spoken for, as well as the entrance to Nesters Market. The grocery store will be located on the second floor and will be approximately 30,000 sq ft. in size.
The location is an interesting choice for Nesters Market, as it’s owned by The Jim Pattison Group, the same owners as the Buy-Low Foods in Kingsgate Mall across the street.
Kingsgate Mall is owned by the Vancouver School Board, but Beedie Development owns the lease rights. The shopping centre is likely to be redeveloped ahead of the extension of the Broadway SkyTrain line from VCC-Clark to Arbutus.
Nesters Market has two locations in Downtown Vancouver (Seymour and Nelson) and Woodwards, as well as a store on Main Street and East 29th Ave.
