A revised design for a 13-storey boutique hotel next to the Exchange Tower has been approved by the development permit board.
The hotel will be located at 833 West Pender Street, on the site of the former Edward Chapman clothing store. It will have 106 rooms over two levels of underground parking, accessed by a vehicle elevator.
The ground floor will feature a restaurant and guest lounge. The rooftop will be a dynamic space with a bar and seating areas under a glass canopy, as well as a fire pit and reflecting pool.
The front elevation of the building on West Pender Street will be clad in polished white stone. A sleek glass curtain wall will act as a backdrop along the edges.
The architect is Studio One Architecture.
The hotel will be operated by Executive Hotels and Resorts, who are also opening a 202-room, 4-star boutique hotel next door in the recently completed Exchange Tower.
The Exchange Hotel is billed as a “modern take on a grand Vancouver hotel” and will make up the first 11 floors of the heritage building portion of the Exchange Tower.
