The site will be the home of several leading provincial programs and referral centres, including for heart and lung care, renal, eating disorders, HIV/AIDS, mental health and specialty surgeries and transplants.

Funding for the new hospital will be cost shared between the provincial government and Providence Health Care. Architects are IBI.

The current St. Paul’s Hospital land at 1081 Burrard St. will be sold, with funds going towards the project.

Parts of the hospital’s historic façade are expected to be incorporated into the redevelopment of the Burrard Street site, which will likely include a mix of residential, rental, office and commercial space.
