Plaza refresh at 401 West Georgia ahead of Amazon’s arrival

Oxford Properties is refreshing the façade of the plaza and retail space at 401 West Georgia, ahead of transformative changes on the block.

To the north of the office tower at 401 West Georgia, construction is well underway on Oxford’s 10-storey, “Class A” office building at 402 Dunsmuir Street.

Across the street is QuadReal’s massive The Post redevelopment, which will include two office towers with Amazon Canada as the flagship tenant.

A Loblaws CityMarket grocery store will anchor the retail component of the development, which will also include a food hall and retail shops and services.

And if that wasn’t enough change for one block, Westbank and Allied REIT are busily pouring footings for their 24-storey office tower at 400 West Georgia.

Deloitte will be moving its Vancouver head office from Bentall 4 to the new tower when it opens in late 2020.

With thousands of new tech and office workers moving in, Oxford Properties is hoping to attract a restaurant or cafe to the refreshed retail space at 401 West Georgia.

The space was previously home to a Bank of Montreal branch, which moved one block west to West Georgia and Richards a couple of years ago. The bank branch was damaged during the Stanley Cup riots.
