The façade of one of Vancouver’s Spanish colonial revival-style buildings will be saved in an upcoming redevelopment.
The small commercial building at East Hastings Street and Penticton Street in Hastings-Sunrise (also known as the East Village) will be replaced by a six-storey, mixed-use building with 47 secured market rental units, and five commercial units on the ground floor.
On the Penticton Street side, the heritage façade will be incorporated into the design for one of the commercial spaces, designed for a restaurant with an outdoor patio area.
There will also be a small plaza and pocket park on the Penticton Street frontage of the building.
Upstairs, the unit mix will be as follows:
There will be 27 underground parking stalls, as well as commercial and residential bicycle parking and clothing lockers.
The rooftop amenity space will feature a children’s play area, dog run, outdoor dining area, seating and planters for urban agriculture.
