New renderings of an upcoming eight-storey mixed-use building at Granville and West 7th Avenue have surfaced.
The building will contain 41 units (16 one-bedroom, 16 two-bedroom and nine three-bedroom), and 63 underground parking stalls. The developer, Aoyuan Property Group, has begun marketing the mixed-use project as The Granville.
The residential part of the building is stepped back from the street, with retail units along Granville Street. The residential lobby will be located on the northwest corner of the site, on West 7th Ave. There will be a small plaza on the corner of West 7th and Granville, suitable for a cafe or restaurant patio.
The development will replace a commercial building on the corner of Granville and West 7th mostly recently home to a furniture store.
Unfortunately, the redevelopment also means a colourful mural adjacent to a surface parking lot will be lost.
The mural was painted in 2016 by Hamilton-based artist Kristofir Dean, and was recently featured on lamppost banners for the South Granville BIA.
Hong Kong-based Aoyuan has developed over 100 residential and commercial properties in 30 cities across China, Australia and Canada. The architect on the project is IBI Group.
