An innovative mixed-use building slated for Commercial Drive will provide office space for two teachers’ associations and housing for early-career educators.
The six-storey building at 2929 Commercial Drive will include 9,120 square feet of administration offices and teacher training spaces for VESTA and VSTA (Vancouver Elementary School Teacher’s Association and the Vancouver Secondary Teachers Association). It will replace the existing VESTA and VSTA building currently on the site, acquired in 1989 and formerly a bingo hall.
The architects of the new building are dys architecture.

The upper floors will contain 27 secured market rental housing units, classified as social housing by the city due to their low end of market rents. There will also be a commercial retail unit on the ground floor and a 700 square foot amenity roof deck. Underground will be 25 vehicle parking spaces and 58 bicycle parking spaces.
The rezoning application is being considered under the Kensington-Cedar Cottage Community Vision.
