Wesgroup Properties is seeking city permission to develop a four-building development in the River District.
The upcoming development, designed by DIALOG, will include four midrise residential buildings (4, 5, 8 and 12 storeys), as well as a central, two-storey amenity building.
The River District Design Guidelines encourage architects to acknowledge the sawmill that once occupied the site. The façade of the project is inspired by stacks of drying lumber, and is highly textured, while remaining pure and simple in terms of its geometry.
Throughout the site will be shallow water features, and an emphasis on landscaping with native plant species.
There will be a total of 168 dwelling units and two levels of underground parking with 188 stalls. Twenty per cent of those stalls will have EV charging capabilities, as stipulated by the City of Vancouver. There will be a total of 425 bicycle parking spaces.
River District is being developed primarily by Wesgroup Properties, and will have 7,000 homes and 15,000 residents once complete. The 130-acre site is three times the size of Granville Island.
Wesgroup is the midst of selling homes at MODE — designed by Ciccozzi Architecture and Perkins + Will — and set for completion in 2022.
